Welcome to Triple Play Game Night! So what is this game night and why does it have such a nerdy name? Well, as the name may imply, the idea is that we choose a game and get that game played three times (see, triple play?). While staring at my stacks of unplayed games one day, I began thinking about the obstacles that keep those games from getting to the table: they can be long, there can be rules, and you need the right amount of players. Sponatenous play just doesn't happen for these types of games. It's almost like they need a special game night scheduled just for them. And if we play the game three times in a row and schedule it in advance, that would cut down on the rules explaination and have the bonus effect of allowing us as players to gain a better understanding and appreciation of the strategies involved! So that's the purpose of this game night. To try those games that have a little more substance. But that's not the only benefit of this game night. Read on! How will this work? We'll play a game over three sessions, one session per month. These three sessions are collectively called a series. To play in a session, just sign up and RSVP yourself a seat - we'll see you there. You can come to all three sessions for the game, or just one. Or even not at all. After those three sessions are over, another game will be picked to play for the next series. The player who had the most decisive win from the last series will get to pick the game for the next series. Fun! You can come to all three sessions in the series, you can come to just one, you don't have to come to any. The important thing to remember is that you can ALWAYS jump in whenever you feel like it and then disappear again for a year. But if you want to come every month then by all means, do it! Who's invited?Everyone's invited! But. There are limited seats. WAY more people are aware of this game night than the event can accommodate. I did that for a reason: people are busy. Not everybody can come all the time. But if you find yourself with a free friday, or have the hankerin' for some gaming, you'll always have this option as long as you RSVP in time! Sign-up for each month is on a first-come first-serve basis. If the seats are full, you can still sign up to be an alternate, or sign up for next month. Also, if you have someone else you'd like to bring along, feel free to sign them up as well. I don't require usernames or passwords for this very reason. It's easy to put anybody's name in and sign them up. Things aren't that formal around here. Do I need to know how to play beforehand?Absolutely not. I'll do my best to explain the rules before the game starts - especially for that first session. I might become less verbose as the series wears on, but that'll just be because I'm getting better at explaining that particular game. Remember, these will usually be games that even I haven't played or have played very little. Also, if the rules for the game we'll be playing can be found online, I'll post links to them. Not everybody likes to read rules, but if you're the type, it can be handy. I'll also post a link to a video introduction if one is available. But like I said, prep work ahead of time is your own perogative. If you're cool with just listening to my explaination, then just show up and have fun.I don't know anybody else who's on the listSo? You know me. Come make some new frienemies. Seriously, we're a ragtag group here. Because this is so informal, it's likely that the players will change each and every session. It's also therefore likely that at least one person playing will need to be introduced to at least one other person playing. Don't let the fact that you've never come prevent you from attending next time! I wouldn't have invited you if I didn't think you were capable of getting along with others wink.I'd like to volunteer to hostAwesome! Tell me ahead of time and we'll try to work that out. It makes me happy that you're willing to do so! |
